We are pleased to announce the York Harbor Inn has become a certified Environmental Leader, recognized by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. We cherish our beautiful Maine coast and are working hard to minimize our impact on our natural resources. Being a hotel, restaurant and banquet facility, we operate 24/7, which means we have a great opportunity to make changes that will have significant short- and long-term benefits.

Some of the ways we are working to protect the environment include:

  All natural biodegradable guest room amenities from Natura brand

  All natural biodegradable cleaning supplies used by our housekeeping staff

  Use of Compact Fluorescent bulbs in all common areas, and guest room lamps

  Use of local purveyors to help support local independently owned businesses and minimize our carbon footprint

  New conservation programs for both water and energy, including a new boiler system in our main building that will use 40 percent less energy

With help from our housekeeping manager, Carol Boardman, and Executive Chef Gerry Bonsey, we are working to make all facets of the Inn’s operation environmentally sound. We are proud of the changes we have made, and hope you will come enjoy our Inn and know that we are all working together to keep Maine beautiful.
